St Aloysius College (Autonomous) was founded in 1880 by the Jesuit Fathers, St Aloysius College has been one of the premier educational institutions in Mangaluru offering quality education to the youth. It is the oldest College in this part of the country managed by the Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society (MJES). The College has produced scholars, professionals, entrepreneurs, politicians, bureaucrats and social workers of repute and eminence. The College has been conferred Autonomous status in 2007 and is reaccredited by NAAC with 'A' grade. It has also been recognised as 'College with Potential for Excellence’ by UGC, College with STAR STATUS by DBT, Government of India and Centre for Research Capacity Building under UGC-STRIDE.
St Aloysius College added yet another feather to its cap by starting the St Aloysius Institute of Civil Services (SAICS) in 2019, in association with InsightsIAS Bengaluru, New Delhi.
St Aloysius Institute of Civil Services was established on 12 January, 2019 to promote Civil Service aspirants. It was the outcome of an astute realization of the need for a full- fledged coaching establishment in the region. The Institute aims at offering a comprehensive package to Civil Service aspirants and preparing them with a competitive edge for the Preliminary, Main and Interview rounds of Civil Services Examination. The Institute's mission is to widen the knowledge base, deepen the aptitude and sharpen the skills of the candidates. Since its inception in 1880, St Aloysius College Institutions have been offering courses and programmes at multiple levels. St Aloysius Institute of Civil Services offers a full time course for those who have completed graduation, post-graduation or an equivalent degree of a university along with weekend courses for undergraduates. Annual Orientation Programmes are conducted on career options for the students of high school and higher secondary/ PUC. The Institute is meant to advance the career prospects of youth who have the potential for high-ranking in Civil Service placements but cannot afford the Expensive coaching available only in big cities. Most of our talented youth are constrained due to lack of access to quality coaching and updated study material. The Institute wishes to bridge this gap by offering an affordable coaching facility within easy reach of the candidates. The institute has been running successfully over the years with state-of-the-art facilities and training by serving officers. The institute has signed an MOU with INSIGHTS IAS, Bengaluru to provide holistic academic support to the civil services aspirants.
