Mangaluru: Civil Service Academy opened at St Aloysius College

On the occasion of foundation day, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) launched its Civil Service Academy here on Saturday, January 12.

Michael D’Souza, philanthropist and NRI businessman inaugurated the academy by cutting the ribbon in the class room of academy. Fr Dionysius Vaz, Rector, St Aloysius Educational Institutions, Fr Praveen Martis , Principal , St Aloysius College, Fr Valerian D Souza, and other trustee of academy were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Michael D’Souza said "I thank God for as my long cherished dream was fulfilled today. When we expressed our desire to the management of St Aloysius College, they assured the support. Because of their positive response today, we have this Civil Service Academy which will play a vital role in training the future civil servants. This academy opens a new doors for youths to serve the nation. The training of civil service is on compassion, consciousness and competition which decides the students’ future. I am confident that finest officers will flourish from this academy and serve the people,”

“I thank the Rector and management of St Aloysius for taking responsibility. I request to identify the students who are thirsty to serve the people. Let this academy become a high class center of civil service,” he added. 

Fr Dionysius Vaz said, "9 Jesuits came here on the request of Catholic community of Mangaluru and then they created a history. Today we are held in high esteem in education sector. Civil Service Academy is one part of education and we inviting the candidates to get training from here for a better future of nation as well as that of individual. We thank to Michael D’Souza, Fr Valerian and all trustees of this academy. They are the real role models of this society because they always dream positive things and execute them."

Before that a thanks giving Mass was held at Loyola Hall. Fr J B Saldanha, parish priest of Permannur Church was the main celebrant. A large number of priests, staff, students and alumni members were present during the Mass.
